The Street pattern of the city is more or less gridiron Pattern with Arterial Roads from Center of the City outwards in all directions.The Palace is the focal point from where all the Arterial Roads start and run radically leading to Towns and Cities outside. Encouraging Development of Local Sub Commercial Areas (Kalidasa Road, Kuvempunagar ) will lessen the burden on the City Centre 90% of the area in Mysore is provided with the Underground Drainage and they in turn are connected to the Highly Efficient Sewage Treatment Plant.

Mysore is growing rapidly in all sectors. Housing to fulfill the requirement of ever increasing population, chang of Land Uses from Residential to Commercial, Mixed to Commercial, Agricultural to Residential or Industrial need to be envisaged and the development should be planned accordingly. The supporting Services-Water supply, Sanitation, Electricity, Transportation etc should be planned accordingly.
